In the Summer of 2015 I had virtually no paid music or teaching work and unusually, also had enough money to live on for a while. I spent the Summer wandering around Hackney noticing things - listening - looking.
I compiled a number of written scores that (in my mind at least) gave a gentle nod to the Compositions 1960 by the composer La Monte Young. They were versions of things I'd done for years (sometimes since I was a teenager) that were essentially guided ways of noticing things - sort of private pieces that you can 'perform' for yourself as you go through the world, in the tradition of Young and other artists such as Yoko Ono, who were active in the Fluxus movement.
And here's a photo of a copy of La Monte Young's Composition 1960 #7 that I've 'held for a long time' (since 2001) in my wallet
I used the reverse side of of a re-print of it as a basis for the album cover for the CERFILIC album
As We Await the Return of the Light.
